In response to the murder of two employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Boston-area Jewish community will hold a memorial vigil this evening, Thursday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m., at Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline, MA. We will honor the memories of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, an engaged couple, who lost their lives in this horrible act of violence. All are welcome at tonight’s event.
Sarah, an American Jew from Overland Park, Kansas, was warm and compassionate, committed to peacebuilding and passionate about sustainability and people-to-people relations. Yaron always had a smile on his face and a welcoming presence. As a staff member of the Political Department at the Embassy of Israel, Yaron focused on Middle East issues.
The American Jewish Committee (AJC) event at which Sarah and Yaron lost their lives was dedicated to peace, healing, and building bridges between communities. We are saddened beyond measure that an event dedicated to understanding and compassion was desecrated by this act of violence. AJC Boston and the whole Boston community are profoundly affected.
Words cannot adequately express our sorrow. We mourn with Sarah and Yaron’s families, their friends, and all who loved them. May their memories be a blessing.
